mapmydirections.com ("we," "our," "the app") provides driving, walking, and transit directions with live weather radar for the United States and Canada. This policy explains what information the app uses, where it goes, and the choices you have. We built this app to work with as little data collection as possible — most of what it does happens entirely on your device.
When you type a starting point or destination, that text is sent to a map search (geocoding) service so it can be matched to a location. When you tap "Use my current location," your device's GPS coordinates are used the same way. We do not require an account, email address, or any other personal identifier to use the app.
If you allow location access, your device shares your coordinates with the app for two purposes: finding your starting point, and — if you start voice navigation — tracking your position turn by turn while a route is active. Location tracking stops as soon as you close navigation or leave the app. We do not store a history of your location, and we do not transmit your location to us; it only ever goes to the routing and mapping services described below, which need it to calculate directions.
Places you save — Home and up to five other locations — are stored using the app's on-device storage, tied to your device and browser session. We do not have access to this data, it is not transmitted to any server we control, and you can remove any saved place at any time using the ✕ on its chip.
To provide maps, directions, and radar, the app sends the minimum necessary data (typically an address, coordinates, or map tile request) to the following independent services. Each operates under its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review:

We do not control these services' servers and are not responsible for their data practices. None of them require you to create an account to use through this app.
The app includes designated ad spaces. Where ads are actively served, the ad network providing them may use cookies or similar technology to select and measure ads, under its own privacy policy. We do not build advertising profiles ourselves, and we do not sell your data.
We do not currently run third-party analytics or tracking scripts on this app. If that changes, this policy will be updated to reflect it.
This app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through this app, please contact us so we can address it.
Since we do not operate servers that store your searches, routes, or location history, there is no retention period on our end for that data. Saved places remain on your device until you delete them or clear your browser/app storage.
If we change how the app handles your information, we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above.
